Bringing Eagles and Communities Together

Communities are a vital part of any successful eagle restoration programme. The return of these iconic birds to Wales will depend not only on suitable habitat and science-led conservation, but also on understanding, trust and collaboration with the people who share the landscape.

Through our talks, workshops and public events, Eagle Reintroduction Wales works to reconnect people with the ecological and cultural importance of eagles while addressing common concerns. By sharing scientific evidence, listening to local perspectives and celebrating Wales’ natural heritage, we aim to build informed conversations that support coexistence with these magnificent birds.

Our events range from community talks and educational workshops to appearances at agricultural shows and rural events, providing opportunities for people to learn about eagles, ask questions and explore what their potential return could mean for Wales.

Community Eagle Talks

Our Community Eagle Talks are designed to reconnect people with the history, ecology and future of eagles in Wales. These engaging presentations explore the story of Golden Eagles (Eryr Euraid) and White-tailed Eagles (Eryr y Môr), why they disappeared from Wales, and the science behind modern eagle restoration. We also address common misconceptions about birds of prey and create space for open discussion about how people and eagles can coexist in the Welsh landscape.

Suitable for:
• Community groups
• Wildlife organisations
• Schools and universities
• Local events and festivals

Talks can be tailored to different audiences and include visual presentations and discussion opportunities.

Stakeholder Eagle Workshops

Our Stakeholder Workshops gather farmers, land managers, conservation groups and local people to discuss bringing eagles back to Wales. We explain the science, cover practical issues, and answer common questions about eagle behaviour, land use and coexistence. The workshops promote open discussion, build understanding and encourage joint conservation efforts.

Suitable for:
• Farmers and farming organisations
• Landowners and land managers
• Conservation organisations
• Local authorities and policy groups

Each workshop can be tailored to the audience and includes opportunities for discussion, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.

Community Eagle Events

Our Eagle Events provide opportunities for people to come together and celebrate wildlife, conservation and Wales’ natural heritage. We regularly attend agricultural shows, rural events and public festivals, helping to connect communities with the story of eagles in Wales and the work being done to restore them. Many of these events are delivered in collaboration with the British Birds of Prey Centre, where our ambassador eagles help bring the story of eagle conservation to life, creating memorable and impactful experiences for audiences.

Suitable for:
• Agricultural shows and rural events
• Wildlife festivals and conservation events
• Community celebrations and public gatherings
• Schools and family events

These events offer a chance for people to learn about eagles, ask questions and celebrate the possibility of their return to Wales.
